Steve Aoki

Steve Aoki was born on November 30, 1977, in Miami, Florida. American electro-house musician and record producer. D.J. Music executive. He is the third son of Rocky Aoki and Chizuru Kbayashi. His father, who was a former wrestler, co-founded the restaurant chain Benihana. He has two older brothers, Kana (sometimes called Grace) and Kevin (owner Doraku Sushi restaurant). His half-sister's model and actress is Devon Aoki. He grew up in Newport Beach and graduated from Newport Harbor High School with a 1995 B.A. in badminton. He went on to UC Santa Barbara, graduating w/ 2 B.A. He received two degrees in sociology and one in feminist studies. He was a student at the college who recorded his own music and also held underground shows in his Biko space in the Santa Barbara Student Housing Cooperative. The Pickle Patch became a performance venue when the building was named The Pickle Patch. He also was involved in student activities during his time at UCSB. He created a Revolutionary Anti-Imperialist League Chapter on campus. At the age of 20, he was running his own label that he called Dim Mak, a reference to his hero from his childhood, Bruce Lee. The band came out with I'm In the House in March 2010 in collaboration with Zuper Blahq, the alter-ego of will.i.am from the Black Eyed Peas. The song was ranked the top spot at No. 29 on the U.K. Singles Chart in its first week of release. The song reached the top five on both the U.K. Indie Chart and the U.K. Dance Chart. The song was featured in the MTV series Jersey Shore. It also was featured in Piranha, the feature film Piranha, and the trailer for Think Like A Man. HitQuarters interview in May 2010 with Lucas Secon revealed that Rivers Cuomo and him had just recorded a song together. Pollstar named him the highest-grossing North America dance artist from performances in 2012. His collaborations include artists such Afrojack, LMFAO and Linkin Park, Will.i.am. Lil Jon, Blink-182, Laidback Luke. BTS, Louis Tomlinson. Rise Against. Vini Vici & Fall Out Boy. He is known for remixing artists such as Kid Cudi.
