Bruce Willis

Bruce Willis, actor and musician, is well-known for his wisecracking and hard-edged characters in action films. Together, they have appeared in films that earned more than $2.5 billion USD. Walter Bruce Willis was born on March 19 1955 in Idar-Oberstein, West Germany, to a German mother, Marlene Kassel, and an American father, David Andrew Willis (from Carneys Point, New Jersey) they were living on a United States military base. The family relocated to the U.S. shortly after he was born. He was raised in Penns Grove, New Jersey, where his mother worked in a bank and where his father worked as a welder and factory worker. Willis picked up an interest in the drama arts during high school. He was "discovered" whilst working in a café in New York City and then performed in a few off-Broadway productions. In one night, Willis was working as a bartender and was noticed by a casting manager who liked his personality. He was looking for a bartender to play a small role in a movie. Willis was a candidate for a variety of roles in films but he was not credited. He ultimately got the role of David Addison, a private investigator, playing Cybill Shepherd, in the romantic comedy show Moonlighting (1985). His sarcastic and wisecracking P.I. is viewed by some as an exercise in preparation for the part of the hard-boiled NYC detective "John McClane" in the horror film Die Hard (1988), in the film, Willis the character alone fought the ruthless international thieves in the Los Angeles skyscraper. Willis reprised the role of McClane in the sequel, Die Hard 2 (1990), set at a snowbound Washington's Dulles International Airport as a group of rebellious Special Forces soldiers seek to get back an infamous South American general. The film's stellar box-office results led to an sequel to Die Hard with revenge (1995). This time Samuel L. Jackson starred as a cynical Harlem shop owner who is unaware of his role and was forced to help McClane in the aftermath of a terrorist attack on a hot New York City day.
