Rachel Anne McAdams
Rachel Anne McAdams was born on November
17, 1978, in London, Ontario, Canada, to Sandra Kay (Gale), a nurse and Lance
Frederick McAdams, truck driver and furniture mover. Rachel is of English,
Welsh, Irish, and Scottish descent. Rachel began acting at the age of thirteen.
She was already performing in Shakespearean productions at summer theater
camps. Rachel graduated with honors from York University with a BFA in Theater.
Following her TV debut on Disney's The Famous Jett Jackson in 1998, Rachel was a
part of Canadian TV's Slings and Arrows 2003. The comedy-drama follows the
struggle of Shakespearean theater groups. She won an award called the Gemini
Award for her performance in 2003. Her first big role was in Mean Girls (2004)
as Regina George instantly landed her on the Hollywood's hot list of young
actors. She followed that film with the role of a major character opposite Ryan
Gosling in the adaptation of the Nicholas Sparks bestseller The Notebook (2004)
The Notebook was a huge box office popularity and was the most watched romantic
drama for a new younger generation of moviegoers. McAdams and Gosling were in
love during filming, and continued to stay in touch through the middle of 2007.
McAdams' next film was the comedy Wedding Crashers (2006), the thriller Red Eye
(2004), as well as the holiday-themed drama The Family Stone ((2005)). McAdams
also explored independent films with Married Life (2007) which was screened at
the Toronto Film Festival. It also included Pierce Brosnan and Chris Cooper in
addition to Patricia Clarkson. McAdams appeared in The Lucky Ones (2007) and
State of Play (2008) in State of Play (2008) and The Lucky Ones (2007),
respectively. She also appeared in The Time Traveler's Wife(2009) and Robert
Downey Jr. in Guy Ritchie's international hit Sherlock Holmes (2009). McAdams
was the fiery producer in Morning Glory (2010). McAdams also played Owen
Wilson's wife, a materialistic one in Midnight in Paris (2011). McAdams then
returned to romantic drama territory with The Vow (2012) with Channing Tatum.
McAdams is also a part of Terrence Malick in To the Wonder (2012) as well as
Noomi Rapace plays Passion (2012) in Brian De Palma's film thriller.
